MichaelMichael Severson, Health and Wellness Manager

Education and professional experience:

Mike received his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from the University of Montana and is a certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise. His nearly 20-year career path has weaved through the public and private sectors, most of which managing a metropolitan fire department’s wellness program which received regional and international recognition. Mike’s current aim is to support and empower employers to adopt appropriate policies and practices in the pursuit of creating a healthier workforce. He accomplishes this by helping employers identify their unique organizational needs, developing tailored engagement strategies and evaluating program outcomes based on industry standards and best practices. Mike has been with Providence since 2013.

What I enjoy most about working with employers:

The diversity of my work ensures that no day is like any other. My role as a consultant is uniquely positioned as the liaison between multiple Providence stakeholders and the employers we serve. Employers have a broad range of needs and unique challenges and I find it fulfilling to contribute my experience in health promotion, wellness program design, marketing and program evaluation to a wide variety of organizations. In the end, I’m especially fortunate for the opportunity to have a small role in making an improvement in our community.  

MeganMegan Thompson, Health Management Consultant

Education and professional experience:

Megan received a Bachelor’s of Arts from Concordia College and a Master’s of Public Health from University of Minnesota. Megan has more than 10 years of experience working in well-being account management, community health, and corporate retail. She is also a certified yoga instructor. As a Health Management Consultant, she is responsible for developing and managing client relationships, providing strategic advice on workforce wellness, and creating resources to support employer needs and industry trends. Megan has been with Providence since 2017. 

What I enjoy most about working with employers:

It’s rewarding when organizations recognize and take action on their unique opportunity to positively impact the public’s health – their culture and environment impacts the well-being of employees, communities, and the environment. I enjoy developing wellness program strategies and educating clients about best practices in the areas of culture of health, leadership engagement and holistic well-being. I also enjoy analyzing data and presenting it in a meaningful way.

JenniferJennifer Lund, Health Engagement Coordinator

Education and professional experience:

Jenn received her Bachelor of Science in health promotion and health behavior from Oregon State University (OSU) and is currently working towards her Master’s degree at Portland State University. While at OSU, she participated in an internship program in South Africa focused on public health initiatives. Jenn also served a year with AmeriCorps, working with a local county health department. Her professional experience includes leading group classes focused on diabetes prevention, self-management, weight management, and tobacco cessation. Jenn has been with Providence since 2017. 

What I enjoy most about working with employers:

It’s great to see employers commit to employee wellness and fun to be exposed to a wide range of work cultures and environments. Every employer brings interesting challenges based on their unique situation and I really enjoy being a part of the collaborative and creative process that unfolds as our team and the employer work together to develop programming that meets their needs.
