Recreation and travel
All work and no play makes for a very dull — and unhealthy — individual, which is why we strongly recommend playing more and traveling to help replenish your energy and fortify your soul.
We know life is hard. We all have our struggles and burdens. One of the ways to lighten the load — even if only temporarily — is to give ourselves permission to have fun. When we let ourselves play, we loosen up a bit, shed some of the weight of responsibility and give ourselves permission to be silly or adventurous, competitive or collaborative.
As for travel, you don't have to go to the Greek Isles or French Riviera to experience freedom from the ties that bind (read: family and work obligations). A road trip can put you in an improved frame of mind as you get some literal and figurative distance from day-to-day life as you know it. Planes, trains, automobiles and ocean liners — take your pick, but take something to somewhere else once in a while.
But how, you ask, can you afford all this recreating and globe-trotting? As a Providence Health Plan member, you have access to exclusive recreation and travel discounts.
Making time for recreation and travel isn't something to feel guilty about. It's something to celebrate as part of a healthy lifestyle. It can help reduce stress, connect you with like-minded people, and improve your confidence — and your quality of life.
Make time for fun and adventure.
