It’s time to team up. Whether you'd like to increase your activity level, reduce stress, improve your eating habits, lose weight, quit tobacco or just feel better every day, a Providence health coach can help. We’re here to remove barriers, support your efforts, motivate you when you need a nudge and be a resource on your journey to a healthier, happier you.

Providence Health Plan offers two health coaching program tracks, depending on the nature of your goals and desired level of coaching support throughout the program. Both program tracks are offered at no cost to eligible Providence Health Plan members.



The Providence standard health coaching program offers:

  • One-on-one health coaching sessions
  • Personalized goal setting with manageable steps

  • How much does health coaching cost?
    Health coaching is free to eligible members.
  • What is a health coach?

    Health coaches are credentialed healthcare professionals (including nurses, registered dietitians, social workers, licensed counselors, health educators and exercise physiologists) who provides guidance to members on evidence-based areas of wellness such as physical activity, nutrition, stress management, weight management, tobacco cessation and sleep. A health coach also may be able to help you lower your cholesterol, blood pressure, and/or blood sugar.
     

    Health coaches focus on helping you achieve your highest level of wellbeing through effective goal setting, education, motivation, support, accountability, confidence building and navigating barriers.

  • How can coaching benefit me?
    A Health Coach is trained to help you to set goals, stay motivated, navigate challenges, and discover that you have the answers to create lasting changes.
  • How should I prepare for a coaching session?

    During the first coaching session, your Health Coach will ask you questions to get to know you and learn about your current lifestyle habits. You are encouraged to identify areas of interest. Together, you and your Health Coach will come up with 3–6-month goals.
     

    During the follow up sessions you will determine the focus of each session. You and your Health Coach will review your progress and explore any challenges that may have come up.

    Telephonic, virtual, and online sessions

    • Program duration is 3 to 24 months
    • Tailored coaching support
    • Pre-scheduled telephonic or virtual sessions usually last 20 to 45 minutes
    • Bi-monthly or monthly sessions, frequency of sessions determined by individual needs and goals
    • Online sessions occur through secure messaging on myProvidence
  • Do you offer in-person health coaching?
    In-person coaching is not offered but we do offer video visits at this time. If you’d like in-person support, your plan may cover visits to see a registered dietitian. Customer service can help you to understand your wellness benefits and direct you to in-network providers. Customer service can be reached at 503-574-7500 Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. (Pacific Time).
  • Can my spouse enroll in health coaching?
    If your spouse meets eligibility requirements and has insurance through Providence Health Plan they may enroll. They must call the health coaching line to enroll or fill out an online form.
  • How do I sign up for health coaching?
