Despite the ever-increasing cost of health care, exercise is one of the least prescribed but most effective prevention and intervention treatments. With no real side effects and minimal cost, exercise improves treatment outcomes and quality of life, while lowering key, health risk factors. That’s a powerful combination not readily matched by many other treatment regimens.

Dr. James Beckerman, medical director of the Center for Prevention and Wellness at the Providence Heart and Vascular Institute, will discuss the critical role of exercise as a component of a wellness program. He’ll cover advances in prescribing exercise to benefit patients at higher risk for heart problems and explain how to jump-start a wellness program. He’ll also share information on readily available resources for assessing fitness.

Forums are offered at no charge, but reservations are required. RSVP to Becky Larson at 503-574-6247 or no later than Feb. 1.
