Providence Health Plan Medicare Advantage plans have received the highest rating – 5 stars – from The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, or CMS, for 2014.
Through the Medicare Star Quality Rating System, CMS uses information from member satisfaction surveys, plans, and health care providers to give overall performance star ratings to plans. A plan can get a rating between one and five stars. A 5-star rating is considered excellent. The ratings are based on more than 50 care and service quality measures across five categories that include staying healthy, managing chronic conditions, member satisfaction, customer service, and pharmacy services.
“We're honored to receive this important recognition for our Medicare Advantage plans,” said Jack Friedman, chief executive, Providence Health Plan. “The rating acknowledges our commitment to improve care and service in a rapidly changing marketplace.”
The 5-star rating can help guide consumers in making choices about their Medicare coverage for the coming year. “We know that many factors go into a decision about a Medicare plan,” said Friedman, “We are grateful for these excellent ratings, and we believe they reflect our desire to create the best possible experience for our members and customers.”
Medicare evaluates plans based on a 5-Star rating system. Star Ratings are calculated each year and may change from one year to the next.
